We have reviewed a few FREE web hosting providers, namely 000Webhost and Weebly. Each of these free web hosting plans has their strengths and shortcomings.
Today, let us review another free web hosting provider – 110MB Hosting. 110MB is a very well known company especially for their free hosting offers. They are serving more than 900,000 sites now. With so many loyal customers with them, they certainly worth a thorough review from 100Webhosting.com.

Is 110MB really Free Web Hosting?
Yes, it is really free! To better test their free web hosting service, we have signed up a free hosting account with them. We tested this and confirmed that you can really get a free hosting account from 110mb.
Quick and Easy Registration
The registration is quick and hassle free. To register, just visit 110MB website, and click on “GET A FREE ACCOUNT”. Then fill up the simple form. Check your email and click on the confirmation link.
110MB Control Panel
Once the free account is confirmed, you will be able to login to your account’s control panel. See screen shot below.
The control panel is divided into several sections and has a few interesting applications to help us build our website.
1-Click Application Installer
The 1-Click Application Installer has a full list of open source software which supposedly can be installed with 1 mouse click! These software are 4images, bBlog, Coppermine Photo Gallery, CuteNews, Drupal, FlatPress, MediaWiki, MKPortal, Moodle, MyBB, MyLittleForum, Nucleus-CMS, osCommerce, PHP-Nuke, phpBB2, phpBB3, SMF, TikiWiki, UseBB, WikiWig, WordPress, Xoops, ZenCart and many more!
However, please note that MySQL database is not available in the free hosting package! Thus, most of these applications cannot be installed unless you upgrade the hosting account! We tried to install WordPress (which requires MySQL) and surprisingly the system allows us to proceed until half-way when it showed us this message “Error establishing a database connection”. Not very user friendly we think.
No luck with installing WordPress. As suggested on their page, we instead tried installing FlatPress – a WordPress-like blogging platform which doesn’t require MySQL database. FlatPress stores all its content on text files. This time we managed to install FlatPress successfully within a couple of minutes. Below is a screen shot of our FlatPress blog with the default theme, leggero.
File Manager
The web-based File Manager allows us to upload, modify, change or delete files and folders. We find that this file manager is easy to use and is user friendly.
110mb Site Builder
The Site Builder allows you to create a personal or professional website fast and easily with minimal effort. The step by step process is user friendly and intuitive with over 300 templates to start with!
See below, it’s really easy and simple – who says you need to know programming to build a professional looking website? We will maybe run a detailed tutorial on this site builder in the near future.
110MB Hosting Plans
Apart from FREE web hosting, 110MB also offers 110MB Pro and 110MB Premium hosting plans which come with more features. The hosting plans are detailed in the following comparison table.
You can upgrade to the premium hosting plans at anytime. For $4.95 a month, the premium plan comes with unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and support for FTP, MySQL databases and many more!
Editor’s Advice
110MB Hosting free web hosting package is suitable for building a simple website fast and easily. It doesn’t require you to know any programming language as the free Site Builder is user friendly and easy to use. It gets the job of building a simple website done. If you want to start a blog, you can use FlatPress (instead of WordPress).
But, the free hosting plan doesn’t support MySQL, FTP, your own domain name and a few other advanced features. Of course, you can upgrade to the 110mb Pro, or 110mb Premium hosting plans at anytime.

Registered for a free account about 5 years ago. It was been on and off (mostly off) ever since then. In the last 2 years I have not been able to access my own account to change or delete the content. They blamed it on a damaged server and tried to push me to a paid account. Another word: they are using my data to blackmail me to pay them to access my account. Avoid at all cost.
Hello Hace,
That is bad. Looks like 100mb’s free web hosting services may have deteriorated over the years.
These days there are not many good choices when it comes to hosting for free. Perhaps the most popular and good ones are mostly more suitable for blogs, such as on Blogspot.com and WordPress.com. You can also try out Hubpages.com.
Anyway, paid hosting are very affordable these days. You can check out some good deals on our hosting coupons page – http://www.100webhosting.com/web-hosting-coupons-promotion-codes/
Cheers and Happy New Year!
