I want to know if I sign up for Hostgater or Bluehost, does that mean i dont need to register for wordpress org to create my new website? I need a website that has paypal, shopping carts and basic stock management. As I am new, a simple website with minimal / nil startup cost will be fine, what options do you reckon?

Yes, you are right. If you sign up for either HostGator or Bluehost, you do not need to register for WordPress. In fact, WordPress is included in Bluehost’s SimpleScripts (a very easy-to-use
applications installer, with which you can install WordPress in a couple of minutes. SimpleScripts includes more than 70 popular applications/scripts including wordPress, shopping carts, E-commerce tools, forums and etc).
On the other hand, for HostGator, you can do the same just like if you were on Bluehost. Instead of SimpleScripts, HostGator uses QuickInstall – a simple yet easy-to-use applications/scripts installer.
After you have signed up with Bluehost or HostGator, you can choose to install a shopping cart script. You can try open source options such as PrestaShop or Zen Cart (both are available in SimpleScripts, and QuickInstall). These shopping carts support Paypal, and has basic stock management.
I am sure such setup with minimal startup cost will be perfect for you as it only requires minimum web hosting cost.
