Can you upload your own Pages?? Like, just host, not built on it??
Hi Mohamed Kaba,
Nope, you cannot upload your own pages. But you do not really have to create your pages elsewhere as the SiteBuilder is really very powerful and easy to use. You can however upload files, to allow your users to download for example.
Many of my 100% free weebly websites end up on Google’s first page and here at Weebly SEO you’ll find the 10 seo tips and tricks that I use to make that happen!
Are users able to export info from an existing bloggercom account?

Hello Wolfi,
If you do not want to pay, you can try Weebly. They provide free web hosting and you can use their free website builder which is very user friendly and intuitive, even for beginners. Give them a try! Hope that helps.
Cheers!

lol ok this is my last sms my website is online but i cant find it wit google that sucks what must i do?? mwa thnx for helpng
Hi Wolfi,
It takes time for Google to pick up, index and show your website in the search result. Since your website is new, it will take at least a few months, some may even take up to half a year! You need to be very patience with search engine.
tahnx so thers no way i can find my website on another pc? but thanx for your help im glad your here
Thanks for the info i am really looking forward to using their service.I just have one question can i have a custom email address also with them
Hi,
Yes, you can setup your own custom email accounts with Weebly, but only if you have your own domain name, either you bought the domain name through them or through another domain name company. More info, you can check out here http://kb.weebly.com/setup-email.html
I purchased my own domain with another registar, then built the website on Weebly to get the hosting for free.
I changed the DNS records to point to weeblys IP address, but it’s more than 48h and my website doesn’t appear. The registar parking page only shows.
Could this process take long? Does anyone experience this? thnx
Hi Laura,
If you want to use your own domain with Weebly, you can check out this knowledgebase article for specific instructions on how to do this.
http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html
Weebly even provided step by step instructions for domain names registered through GoDaddy and Yahoo Small Business. Hope this helps!
I have a qustion:
1. if i buy a domain in weebly do i need a host?
2.What hapens with my pagerank in google?
3. what hapens with my old domain?
Hi Emely,
1 — If you buy a domain from Weebly, you do not need to purchase any additional hosting. Weebly can host everything for you for free. Purchasing a domain name will simply allow you to access your website with something more professional than using the free subdomain option.
You can purchase a domain (.com, .net, or .org) through Weebly very easily with no setup or configuration necessary. The cost of this is $39.95 per year for a 1 year term, or less per year when purchased for a longer term. Hosting and email are included, and there are no additional monthly fees.
To purchase your own domain name, click on the Settings tab in your editor, select “change site address” and choose Option B. After you enter an available domain name, you’ll be taken to a purchase page to complete your order.
2 — Your existing subdomain name that you already have with Weebly will continue to work even after you purchase a domain name for your website. Since this is the case, your PageRank on Google should not change. From their point-of-view, nothing has changed on your website — and everything is still working fine.
3 — Yes, you can use both your subdomain and your newly purchased domain name.
Hope the above answers your questions. Cheers!
hello, i need some advise on which website i should use….is webs.com a good company to start out a selling business on line store or is weebly better..please help… any advise will help
Thank you Jasmine for your help.
What happens in google search engine?
1. will the old url-s stay in search results and if so, is there a fear that i can get a google panalty for double content (example: emelyrecipe.weebly.com/beef and emelyrecipe.com/beef have the same content)?
Do you guys work with hosts such as hostgator?
I also want to know If I can customize the html so I can have rotating banners at the top of the pages
How about ecommerce? what kind of shopping carts do you use?
I am very tempted to switch to weebly even after all the progress ive been doing to my site, but need to make sure I dont make a mistake. Can I mix ecommerce items in blogs?
Hi Fabio,
Certainly, HostGator is one of our favorite web hosts. Yes, you can put scripts which will allow you to have rotating banners at the top of the pages. However, you will need to find for a script which will allow this. Of course, if you use WordPress, there are themes which have this functionality built-in, or you can get a free plugin which will do the same thing.
For e-commerce, we strongly recommend CS-Cart. http://www.100webhosting.com/cs-cart-shopping-cart-software-and-ecommerce-software-solutions/
If you want complete freedom to use WordPress, CS-Cart, and all the other scripts and software, you will need to get a good web hosting at one of the good web hosts. We recommend HostGator, GreenGeeks, iPage and LunarPages. Actually, you can check our recommendations on our page http://www.100webhosting.com
Yes, you can have both e-commerce and blog at one website.
Actually, how about weebly? do you recommend me this better than WordPress? not sure and still looking. Pls let me know
Hi Fabio,
Weebly is good as it is very easy to use for practically anyone. Their drag and drop website editor is amazingly simple to get started. And their templates are beautiful.
However, I would definitely recommend WordPress. It is flexible, scalable and features packed! I have the flexibility of changing the look and feel with free (or premium) themes, and add new functionality with plugins.
Hi Jasmine,
I am planning to open a blog/site with Weebly, and have some questions:
1. Does Weebly protect personal information from WhoIs ?
2. Where can I find information about payments for their domain names?
3. What is the difference opening site or blog? Do they have different costs and features?
4. Can I upload videos in the free hosting package?
Thank you,
Jerminal
Hello Jerminal,
1. Yes, you can choose to have private whois. To manage your domain settings and whois information, log into your Weebly user account first and then go to http://domains.weebly.com. You should see a pulldown menu with your domain name listed. Choose it and you’ll then see a link listed with a username and password to log in and access your DNS and other domain name configuration settings.
3. A site and a blog are more or less the same. A blog is a specialized type of website.
4. You would have to embed them from another provider. You can embed video from other sites by using their provided embed code with our custom html element.
Hope the above answer your questions. Cheers!
Can we work through C-panel for PHP and MySQL. ?
Is Dynamic Page creation possible ?
Hello Rajiv,
Thank you for your interest in Weebly. Unfortunately, PHP and MySQL are currently not available in Weebly although they say there’s a good chance they’ll add it in the future. We just have to patience as they continue to develop Weebly.
Anyway, if you really need CPanel, PHP and MySQL (for dynamic page creation, etc), I would strongly recommend you to check out the following two web hosts:
1. GreenGeeks – http://www.100webhosting.com/greengeeks-the-best-wordpress-web-hosting/
Founded in 2008, GreenGeeks is a very well know and popular green web host. You can get $30 instant discount with the special coupon code “100WH”.
2. LunarPages – http://www.100webhosting.com/lunarpages-affordable-web-hosting-and-award-winning-support/
LunarPages is a big web host which is established more than 10 years ago. Their servers are fast and reliable, and their technical support is really excellent.
Check out these alternative hosting companies. Do let us know if you need more help.
Thank you , Jasmine for your answer.
After reading your reply to Rajiv, I wonder how to find out which databases my computer should have if you don’t support MySQL and PHP?
And how to find out which one my computer has?
Thanks,
J
Hi Jerminal,
You are most welcome.
Let me explain. Weebly doesn’t support custom programming in PHP and MySQL. In other words, you will not be able to do your own program or script in any programming languages (and database), including PHP and MySQL.
However, you can use their website builder tools to create a complete website.
“My computer” – you mean your local computer, right? You can have PHP and MySQL on your local computer, but you will not be able to upload them to Weebly’s server, because they do not support these.
Hope that explains.
Great service – your reply came very fast!
I know for sure my laptop doesn’t have MySQL and PHP (I asked my Sony support).
In this case will my my website be working with you? if not, which webhost I should
check?
Thanks again,
Jerminal
Hi Jerminal,
That (your laptop has no PHP and MySQL) is expected because almost all laptops won’t have that, unless you put them in yourself.
Yes, your website should be working fine, because the website will not reply or dependent on what you have on your laptop. For a basic website, you will do just fine with Weebly.
But if you want more control over the design, functionality, etc… for example, if you want to run a blog on WordPress or an E-commerce website, then I recommend you to look at other web hosts. For example:
1. GreenGeeks – http://www.100webhosting.com/greengeeks-the-best-wordpress-web-hosting/
Founded in 2008, GreenGeeks is a very well know and popular green web host. You can get $30 instant discount with the special coupon code “100WH”.
2. LunarPages – http://www.100webhosting.com/lunarpages-affordable-web-hosting-and-award-winning-support/
LunarPages is a big web host which is established more than 10 years ago. Their servers are fast and reliable, and their technical support is really excellent.
Thanks, Jasmin for your time and patience, I’ll check those links.
Hi Jasmine,
Im building a new ecommerce site and I am soooo not technical. Is Weebly the way to go? I saw your comments regarding WordPress and BigCommerce but I dont want to deal with hosting companies, downloading stuff, and everything else that comes with building a website.
Hi Rona,
Good to know that you are building a new e-commerce site. Sorry, but I think Weebly may not be a good choice for e-commerce as they are more suitable for simpler websites, not for serious e-commerce stuff.
To go far, you need to get your own hosting with a good web host. GreenGeeks and HostGator are great choices as they have stayed at the top of our top 10 web hosting list for many months.
WordPress may not be a good choice for e-commerce since it’s primarily a blogging platform. Although we can use plugins and specialized themes to turn it into an e-commerce site. But a better solution is still a specialized shopping cart script such as PrestaShop and CS-Cart.
PrestaShop is a free open source shopping cart script. They are pretty good for small sites… but if you want something better, then I advise you to go for CS-Cart Professional Edition.
Hope my answer helps you… but do let me know if you need more help. Cheers!
I, too, am not technology savvy. Can I use a template of weeblys but use a host like hostgator (php) to develop it into a dynamic site?
Hi Jennifer,
I am afraid you can’t. You can only use Weebly’s templates on their site, not on another host such as HostGator.
HostGator also provides website builder and website templates for their users. And, with your own hosting account, you can also use software such as WordPress, which is very flexible and features rich.
If you decided to go with HostGator, remember to use the coupon code: gatorspecial2011 which will get you 25% discount instantly. This is the best HostGator coupon code.
Do let me know if you need more help.
I already have a domain and web host with Lunarpages. Can I still use Weebly to redesign or rebuild?
Hi Nichole,
Of course you can use Weebly. To use Weebly, you have to point your domain (from Lunarpages) to Weebly’s nameservers. With that you can use Weebly to design and manage your website.
You will not be able to use both web hosting at the same time. Can only choose one… either LunarPages or Weebly. Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot for your helpful site, Jasmine, this post has answered several essential questions for me already. It does look to me like I should go with hostgator but they don’t seem to enable pre viewing (without signing up) of their templates to help one determine if there’s something suitable or am I wrong? Also do you know about payment options in ecommerce? I’d like to avoid paypal. Do you know anything about payko and what about money orders. So far those are the options I’m considering.
Thanks.
Hi Julie,
If you don’t mind, perhaps you can let me know what type of website you are looking to setup? Is it an E-commerce website, where you want to sell something online? Or is it a blog? Or just a static website?
Why do you want to avoid Paypal? I have not used Payko before, and they do not seem to be very popular, any reason why you favor payko so much?
If you are looking to setup an E-commerce website, I strongly recommend HostGator, or Bluehost. And then get CS-Cart. Check out my CS-Cart review http://www.100webhosting.com/bluehost-and-cs-cart-best-web-hosting-and-shopping-cart-for-your-e-commerce-website/
Do let me know if you have more questions.
Hi, I am looking to make a template for a webpage that will be part of another domain (ex: http://www.domainname.com/mysite). I am very unfamiliar with weebly, but I have created the basic site on weebly and would like to now “move” it, in a way, to the new, final website location. Is there any way to do this? Or would I need to purchase a code or pay a website designer for the template? Thank you!
Hi Rachael,
I don’t think you can “move” the site you have created on Weebly to another web host. The best way to do this is to get someone to recreate the design you have into HTML or whatever web template you want it to be in… for example, WordPress.
It is free and you can create reasonable websites. The drag and drop features are so easy to use. While there may be faults I have already seen many of them fixed up by the Weebly team. Check it out.
Hello,
I want to host my own site and I have designed and completed with my hand written code.
I want to host my that site over weebly, I have a domain name also.
Can I host this here and also don’t want to appear the quote “this site is created with weebly”
because I have created it myself.
Is it possible?
OR not?
Hi Navratan Soni,
Since your website is hand coded by yourself, it won’t be suitable to be hosted by Weebly. In that case, I highly recommend Bluehost as they have better pricing and has better features. Check out Bluehost http://www.100webhosting.com/web-hosting-review-bluehost/
Let me know if you have more questions. Cheers!
Sorry .. jasmine.. but I need a free hosting as it is very small site of around 2MB only with some php codes..
Hello Navratan Soni,
You can use your own HTML and CSS on Weebly’s hosting. But, please note that they do not support your own PHP coding.
There is no free web hosting which fully supports PHP. You can check out 000webhost, but they are not known to be reliable these days, and I don’t recommend they either. If you are serious with your website, I strongly recommend getting a paid web hosting.
Let me know if you need more help/advise. Cheers!
Thank you, jasmine..
Does the Weebly free hosting and free website design include an email address for use with the website
Hello Mike,
If you bought the domain name through Weebly, then they will help you to integrate the domain name onto Google Apps to provide email for your domain name. If your domain name is not bought through them, then you can integrate onto Google Apps yourself.
Hope that helps.
I’ve tried this tool myself to build a free website for a class project. Certainly something worth looking into for small business owners who want to start their own website.
Can I use Weebly to create a site hosted by another provider?
How would that cost?
Does Weebly integrate and is compatible with Word Press?
Can I download the Weebly website files?
Thanks!
Hi Ali,
Nope, you cannot use Weebly on a website which is hosted by another provider, and Weebly doesn’t support WordPress. Yes, once a website is created, you can download the generated HTML files.
Hope that helps.
Yes thanks Jasmine. But to clarify – can I then upload the files I download else where? Or what else is the point of download them?
Hi Ali,
Yes, you can upload the files you downloaded, but this will be very tedious and time consuming. What I meant, is you need to view source in your web browser and save the file.
Why you don’t consider using WordPress? With the availability of thousands of free themes, you can turn a WordPress site into any type of website you want. It’s easy to setup and to maintain.
dont know which company should i use for a on line store business……webs.com or weebly…please help….any advise
Hi Neli,
I would recommend you to give Weebly.com a try. If you want to build a simple website, you can use Weebly, but if you want to add features later, for instance E-commerce stuff, you will need to pay. Anyway, Weebly is easy to use, but the free plan is rather limited in features.
If you are looking for more advanced stuff, more features and more control, you can use a complete shopping cart system. I highly recommend CS-Cart. You can find out more about this shopping cart here http://www.100webhosting.com/bluehost-and-cs-cart-best-web-hosting-and-shopping-cart-for-your-e-commerce-website/
Let me know if you have more questions.
I want to sell dowloadable products, such as PDF files. Can Weebly support this?
Hi Luba,
Yes, Weebly supports this. For free hosting, though there is a limit of 5MB per file uploaded. You can upgrade to the Weebly Pro which gives you unlimited pages, bandwidth, and storage space.
Jasmine,
Yes, i can upload the file no problem, but i do not know how to restrict people from dowloading it untill they pay. What i am looking at is to sell PDF file, like an e-book… sort of…
Can you please help
Hello Luba,
Unfortunately, selling digital goods through Weebly can be a little tricky. Some users choose to collect payment and then manually send out a link to the file to the customer or send the file via email after purchase.
Weebly still lack the option to do this in an automated way. Actually, it’s something Weebly hope to have available within the next few months. Thanks for your patience while Weebly is working on this!
As an alternative, you may consider a service like Payloadz or e-Junkie that is designed for selling digital files. You should be able to copy their purchase code and paste it into a Custom HTML element in Weebly.
Hope that helps. Thank you.
CAN I CHANGE THE NAME OF MY WEB SITE ONCE ITS UP ??
Hello Kelly,
You certainly can! I guess you mean the web address of your website. To change the web address (URL) of your website, go under the “settings” tab of the editor and click on “change site address”. From here, you can choose a different address. Once complete, re-publish your site.
Please note if you use a custom domain name, you cannot change your name without purchasing a new custom domain name (unless you already own the domain to which you are trying to switch).
Hope that helps.
Hi Jasmine
I am a photographer looking to start a website showcasing my photography & photo albums. Is weebly the right option for me?
Hi Patricia,
Oh yes, Weebly is a good option if you want to be able to easily setup a website to showcase your photos. Weebly has some really good themes for photography websites.
Check out the themes on their website, and also this blog post for some really good photography sites on Weebly. http://featured.weebly.com/1/post/2011/10/featured-sites-photography.html
Hope this helps.
Hi Jasmine – thanks for getting back to me so promptly. It looks like I should give weebly a go then
Hi Patricia,
Yes, Weebly is a good option. It’s easy to use and is free.
I’ve been using weebly for over a year and a half now! All I can say is that this software and whoever made it is very superb. I’d never imagined that building websites would be this easy yet so powerful!
Hey,
I’m planning to start a website for my business purpose, and i’m confused how to do it.There’s a new venture come out by GOOGLE AND HOSTGATOR called ‘indiagetonline’ and then there’s Weebly. Which one is more reliable and which would be a better option? I’m getting mixed reviews from people, hence am not clear.
Hey Sid,
I have not tried indiagetonline, so I may not be able to do a fair comparison. But indiagetonline looks very promising.
One more thing what are the charges of weebly? because all i hear is that it is free. Is it free like all the time or do they charge after a certain period of free usage?
Hi Sid,
Weebly is really free. However, please note that they have a pro version which is not free. Pro version includes more features. So, as long as you are happy with the Basic version, you do not need to pay anything forever! It’s free!
hi everyone!
Just a little question about Weebly: is it possible to migrate an existing site from Joomla to Weebly easily and painlessly? or will this have to be a lot of manual labor? Another question: does weebly provise some sort of multi-language support/plugin? I’m thinking of moving a site that has English and Chinese posts.
Hi Natalie,
Weebly doesn’t currently offer FTP access to users, so you wouldn’t be able to upload a site or pages created through another service. Instead, they offer the use of a user-friendly Editor in order to create pages and blogs, upload images and files, add music and videos, password protect pages and more.
On the question of multi-language support, while they don’t have an integrated method to do this right now, some users do create multi-lingual sites by creating one page in each language and then creating links to the same page published in an alternate language.
Alternatively, you may want to consider one of the widgets available from Google Translate or Babelfish. You can copy the widget code into a Custom HTML element in Weebly so that your users can select their language and have your page automatically translated.
Hope that answers your questions on Weebly.
Weebly is exactly what you said, Jasmine. I can’t believe such a great service is offered free. It’s truly priceless!
Thanks for the article. It clarified the questions about storage and bandwidth in my mind.
Take care!
Hello Raheel,
Thank you for sharing with us your experiences with Weebly. Really appreciate it.
Thanks again!
I’m hearing good thing about weebly I have been researching sites to create a website I hope if I try weebly it’s the right one for me.
Sure Stephanie. Weebly is free, so you can give them a try. If they are good you can stay with them, otherwise you can move on to another web host.
Hi. I am trying to decide between wordpress and weebly to set up a website for the domain I recently purchased. Ipage and maybe another host seem to offer both weebly and wordpress. However, weebly is only free if you limit to six pages on ipage and maybe another host has that same offer. If you want more or unlimited pages with weebly, they say weebly charges about $10 a month for the pro or premium version. Do you know if there are more design features or templates that come with that paid weebly version other than just being able to have more than six pages? Also, my site is going to be an educational site where I will be charging for some professional services but not likely selling products so paypal would be ok. Do you think Weebly would be ok in this scenario or would wordpress be better? Also, does one need to know code to customize a wordpress template such as inserting a youtube video or making three column layout… Thanks.
Jon, thank you for your inquiry.
Yes, you are right about the Weebly offering through iPage. You can basically create 6 web pages for free. If you want unlimited pages and some other advanced features, you need to upgrade to Weebly premium version.
The Weebly premium version has a lot of good features, for example:
- Create a Theme From Scratch
- Audion player
- Password Protect Pages
For a full list of features comparison between Weebly basic and premium, check out http://www.ipage.com/popups/drag-n-drop-builder.bml
Yes, you can use Weebly for an educational website. It’s easy to setup a website with Weebly, but for the long run it can cost quite a bit when you upgrade to the premiun version.
WordPress is also very easy to setup and use, and there are thousands of plugins which you can install to enhance its features. Most of these plugins are free. You can insert a Youtube video easily in WordPress as the functionality os built-in. There are also many good WordPress themes which has really good features, and many of the premium themes do now require you to touch the coding to customize them. You can easily customize them through their control panel.
I recommend you to check out 100Wpthemes.com to learn more about premium WordPress themes.
By the way iPage is great for WordPress and Weebly. You can give Weebly a try to see if it really suits your needs. You have nothing to lose as it’s free for the basic Weebly version.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
I have a travel blog on wordpress and want to sell advertisements to businesses and place them on my blog or website. The blog has a home page, about page, country, city with getting going, sleeping, eating, doing, purchasing advertising for 8 countries and lots of cities and information. There are also pictures, some videos and the site is growing. Who should I host with and how should some pointers on form would be appreciated. By the way interesting and fantastic website.
Irv,
Who do you host your blog with right now? I strongly recommend Bluehost. It is the best host, and is currently ranked at the number 1 position on my Top 10 list.
You can find out more about Bluehost, and how it helps WordPress users:
http://www.100webhosting.com/why-bluehost-is-the-best-web-hosting-for-wordpress/
For advertising, you can use a great plugin called AdRotate:

Thank you.
Hi Jasmine I wanna Know about.Does weebly web hosting Provide Search Engine Optimized feature free for free website user?Because many other free website builder do not provide Search Engine Optimized feature.
Thanx
Hello Neelam,
Yes, Weebly provide SEO feature for FREE, even for free website users. They don’t limit any SEO features with the free version of Weebly. You get access to all the SEO features, such as description and keywords for the website, and customized description and keywords for specific pages. You can also use alt text for images. All these are free.
Let me know if you have more questions. Thank you.
Thank you so much. your the greatest. checked out the recommended sites and they appear to be exactly what I have been trying to find for the past three weeks. If I have any questions after reviewing I will get back. Again thank you so much, Irv
Hey, I am presently using Weebly and this website program is the best. It is 100% free with everything available to you…including customizing their templates to suit your personal preference. Most of the features offered for free on weebly’s free-version are costly in other free website builders. Also, though you must upgrade to the pro version to use the audio and video player, yet, it does not matter because you can embed your video and audio from another place. Weebly all the time.
Hello, Does Weebly have a support platform for inventory management in their site builder?
Hello Alice,
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, the feature you requested is not currently available, but there is a good chance Weebly will add it in the future. Appreciate your patience as they continue to develop Weebly.
If you want to keep up with our changes and updates, be sure to follow our website.
First off, I love your website builder. It is easy to use and helped bring my company to the front page of Google. The problem I am having is that I just bought a new domain name through a different company. I plan to change my existing Weebly domain name for my website to the new domain name. Since I already have a strong Google presence, how do I go about re-directing my old traffic to this new domain name? Is there a way to forward my old pages to my new site through Weebly? I read the 301 re-directs on Weebly, but it looked like it only worked for pages within the same domain name, not a secondary domain. Please help.
Thanks, Nick
Hello Nick,
I think using 301 redirect is the best option to do this. 301 redirect should work on Weebly and it should work across domain names too.
Hi Jasmine, I read all the comments, really helpful. I have started a travel business and was looking for free website since hiring a web designer and hosting is costly, as it is just a start up.I have few questions:
I read only 6 pages are allowed, but I made 8 pages and it did not give any error.
Also is there any possibility of putting a online chat incorporated in website?
As of now really like Weebly but only concern is there 6 page limit? Because my site will have many interlinked pages for travel packages.
Hello Kavita,
So sorry for the late reply. Let me answer your questions as best as I can.
No, Weebly does not limit the number of pages you can create.
They do not put a cap on the amount of bandwidth, pages, or space associated with your account. The only constraint is that files are limited to 10MB each for a standard Weebly account and 250MB each (and up to 1GB each for video files specifically) in a Pro account.
That means in a free account you could upload an unlimited number of files that are 10MB each or smaller. And in a Pro account you can upload an unlimited number of files that are 250MB each or smaller.
Yes, you can put an online chat feature in your website. You can embed a chat room from a site such as http://tinychat.com/embedmaker.html?room=MyExampleRoom using Weebly’s custom html element.
Hope that helps. Thanks.
can i use weebly to make flash game site and can i use my registerd domain on weebly.
Ronak,
Weebly supports simple Flash games and applications, for example those from miniclip.com. Copy the game’s embed code and paste it into a Custom HTML element in Weebly. That should work.
If your Flash game is too complicated, it may not work though. Here’s a link to their help page on this. http://kb.weebly.com/swf-flash.html
Yes, you can use your own domain name with a free site with Weebly. If you want to use your own domain name for the site that you built on Weebly, you have to point the domain name to their IP address. You will need to configure your domain’s A-Record with your existing domain registrar.
Hope that helps.
hi
can i integreate a dynamic code on a site with weebly?
if yes can i hosting my database on another domain?
Hello Nadia,
Dynamic code, you mean PHP coding, right? Sorry, Weebly doesn’t support custom coding, and so no PHP codes is supported.
So, you can’t have the database on another website. Hope that helps.
In regards to Weebly: Does the feature, password protected pages, allow for assigning individual user names and passwords?
Thank You
Danial
Hi Danial,
Weebly does not currently allow you to assign individual usernames and passwords to individual pages on your site. This is because, currently, Weebly does not have an option that would allow you to enable user registration on your site.
The current password protection is likely much more basic than the user registration that you’re asking about. Note that password protection is part of Weebly’s Pro upgrade.
At this time, the password protection feature can protect individual pages, but you need to have one password for the whole site. In other words, each page cannot yet have its own unique password. This is a feature Weebly plans to add.
Hope that helps.
Hello Jasmine, well done for a very informative and helpful website.
Please excuse my ignorance, I do know my way around a computer but am not really up to speed with websites and website speak.
I am a Sculptor and have had requests from people to see my website, which I do not have.
Weebly looks very good and being a poor artist seems to fit the bill for costs ! My question is, when I set up the website how does it work ? will I just get a website address I can add to my forum signatures to guide people to my site ? I wonder if you could explain the process please.
Thank you.
Hi Roberto,
Let me briefly explain.
When you signup with Weebly (for free), you will get very user friendly website builder with which you can use to design your website. You can put in the content (text, images and everything else). Create the pages and etc.
Once you are done, you can publish your website to the world. Your website address will be something like yourname.weebly.com
Now, you will naturally want to promote your website. Yes, you can use this website address in your forum signatures.
You can also, put your website address in your email signatures, tell your friends, put it in Facebook, Twitter and other websites. Oh, do not forget – and your business cards too! So, there are really many ways to promote your new website!
Hope that clears some doubts.
Hello Jasmine,
Thanks for your clear and comprehensive reply, can’t see any reason now to not have a go.
Thanks again, I will let you know how I get on.
Roberto.
Hi Jasmine,
I just launched my new website over a week ago. I love weebly – my math teacher told me about it. Anyways, the thing is, i’m getting too excited.. I’ve been up all night editing it because I’ve been advertising my website in numerous places for friends, family, strangers, etc. 2 days ago, weebly sent me a message saying I had 86 views in the last week alone! ^_^ I’m very happy about this and yes, I would obviously like to keep my site up and visible to search engines. However, my ICT teacher informed me a few days ago that website builders (such as weebly) don’t keep free sites up for long :\ Apparently, their inbox becomes full and they delete some websites. He said I can’t have it up longer than a year – unless I pay, and I don’t want to have to ask my parents to pay for a website that isn’t… educational somewhat ^^ So can you guarantee me that weebly will keep my website running for more than a year, for free? (I forgot to read the terms of agreement) :\
Hello Eden,
Congratulations for your new website. Don’t worry, Weebly is a free web hosting and you will not need to pay to use their services.
I have a simple website on Weebly and it has been up and running for more than a year. I have not paid anything for the website on Weebly.
Weebly’s free version is free and will continue to be free. I cannot guarantee they will be free forever, but at the very least, they will not simply delete your website without a valid reason.
Hope that clears your doubt. Cheers!
Hello Jasmine,
I’m currently upgrading my website:

Hope you may be able to visit and give your feedbacks.. thanks!
Hello Infinity,

Hi Jasmine,
I just started using Weebly and really like how my website looks. I produce instrumentals and want to use my site to lease/sell them to artists. Does Weebly have an ecommerce solution yet for direct downloading of large digital files to integrate with Paypal? If not, is there a service (free or low cost) you would recommend to integrate into my Weebly site?
Hello AyJay,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Weebly offer built-in integration with both PayPal and Google Checkout for basic ecommerce functions. Check out the revenue tab in your Weebly editor and drag one of the available product block elements to a page to get started.
Unfortunately, selling digital goods through Weebly can be tricky. Some users choose to collect payment and then manually send out a link to the file to the customer or send the file via email after purchase. Weebly currently lack this option – it’s something they hope to have available within the next few months.
As an alternative, you may consider a service like Payloadz or e-Junkie that is designed for selling digital files. You should be able to copy their purchase code and paste it into a Custom HTML element in Weebly.
Have a nice day.
Good to know, thanks! If Weebly does develop a solution for this, I would certainly upgrade to the Pro subscription
One other question I have. When I visit my site on my mobile phone (iOS) the landing page doesn’t show the information I have on the full web version. Is there any way to display this in a mobile format?
Hello AyJay,
Weebly automatically generates a mobile version of your site for viewing on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and other smartphone platforms. You can alter the colors of the mobile version of a site — or turn it off completely, so that the standard version of your site is displayed to mobile visitors — via Settings > Mobile within the editor.
This, however, is the limit of what you can do with the mobile version of the site. If you don’t like the way it looks on your particular phone there isn’t anything that you can do about that. The best bet is to turn off the mobile version entirely and have your site load normally on smartphone platforms. This will generally give you more functionality and is always worth a go.
Hope that explains the issue and possible solution. Thank you.
Hello,
I recently built a website using weebly site builder through blue host. I have filled out the site title and description within the Settings and SEO section of the site builder. However, when I view my site in google search results it has very generic language – it calls my site “Your Business” and has a generic description of “Welcome To My Business! If you are looking for first-class service, you have come to the right place! We aim to be friendly and approachable. We are here to …”
Is this because it takes a certain amount of time for google to pick up the information I have populated in the weebly site builder? I have also already verified and indexed my site with google. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello Selena,
Yes, you are right. It does take Google some time to crawl your site’s updated information (the meta info). How fast they come to your site to check for new updates, actually depends on how active your site is, and a lot of other criteria.
Anyway, what is your site’s address? We can take a quick look to see if the information is updated properly.
Hi Jasmine,
My site is http://www.urbanfoodorchard.com I also did “Fetch as Google” through webmaster tools, but when I search for the site in google it is still showing up with the weird title and description.
Hi Selena,
The code that Weebly produces look fine, and the description and keywords meta tags are present and in good order.
I believe the weird description that appears in Google when you search for your domain name is the default description for the theme that you use. Google indexed this info before you managed to change them. Google has not yet updated its database or cache.
If you do a search in Bing.com for your domain name, you will see the correct description.
Hi Jasmine, I am about to sign up to Weebly to try and build a website. I bought a Domain name a year ago from 123 Reg, can I use this on my hopefully new website, and does it tell you how to do this once I start building? This will be my first attempt at doing anything like this so I am very apprehensive. Keep wanting to sign up but back off at the last minute, as never done this before so not sure about it at all. In other words, any help or advice would be great….. Thanks.
Hello Mike,
Yes, you can use the domain which you have bought from 123-reg.co.uk
Don’t worry, Weebly is highly recommended. It has good features, user friendly and their support is good.
For the domain name, which you have registered with another registrar, you can find out how to set it up with Weelby on this article
http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html
Let me know if you still have doubt. Cheers!
hello dude, thanks for the information about a free source for hosting my domain. I presently hosted it in blogger. Is there any option to change that backup blog posts file into weebly blog.
Hello Prasanth,
Yes, you can import from Blogger to Weebly through the RSS feed of your current blog. However, I have not tried this feature recently and thus, am not 100% sure how complete is this feature.
You can give it a try, since Weebly is free anyway. Hope that helps.
Thanks so much for the forum! I have a few questions… I recently set up a free Weebly site (as yet incomplete). If I want it to be hosted by Hostgator or Bluehost, can I do that?
Hello Anna,
If you want to host it with HostGator or Bluehost, you will have to export your content from Weebly, and then import it to your hosting account in Bluehost.
I know Bluehost now includes the Weebly website builder in its hosting account. Anyway, this all depends on the complexity of your website, some components such as slideshows, might not work properly after the export-import process.
Let me know if you have more questions. Have a great day.
